So many people think of Self-Care as the odd bubble bath and a spa day once a year (if you are lucky) don’t they? If you are one of them, how do you feel about Self-Care now?
I am hoping this definition has changed your mind, because as you can see…
Self-Care is not a luxury it is an ESSENTIAL and it is important to see it as a daily practice.
The good news is that if you factor Self-Care into your life every day, then a spa day becomes exactly what it is – a wonderful treat to enjoy and luxuriate in, rather than a day spent wishing that it would never end because you are too stressed out to really benefit from it.
Can I hear you saying “yeah right”, because you feel that you don’t have time for all of the other essential stuff in your life, let alone adding in time for Self-Care every day? Then Let me show you how simply you can make a difference to your life without committing huge amounts of time to do so.
The great news is that by taking the following small bite-size bits of Self-Care action each day, you are going to be going a long way to preserving your health and your happiness.
And as someone reading my blog who is likely struggling with infertility or supporting someone who is, then I want you to also know, that research has proven that you will be helping your fertility hormones to work at their best too.
Which is why I really want you to be able to easily include Self-Care into your day, and why I am giving you my Daily Self-Care Strategy that ANYONE can implement. With these 3 Simple Steps you can spend as little as 3 – 20 minutes on Self-Care at any one time during your day.
The great thing is that even without having to commit huge chunks of time, I guarantee if you take these small actions daily, they will make a massive difference to your emotional well-being and how you are able to handle your fertility struggles.
The difference you will make to yourself at a subconscious level, will also be quietly working away at supporting your fertility hormones too.
Let’s take a look at each step now.
Step 1 – DAILY DUMP
No, I am not talking about having a poo, however, it is along the same lines. Can you imagine for a moment if you never did a poo, EVER. It is bad enough when you get constipated isn’t it and how that makes you feel physically and emotionally? We have to poo to get rid of all of the stuff that is of no use to us and no good for us don’t we? The same goes for our difficult thoughts and feelings, and so it is good to get them out on a daily basis too.
All you have to do is grab yourself a notebook and every day dump out about 3 pages worth of the stuff that’s in your head. Please note that this is NOT the same as journaling, which tends to be more about reflection. This is purely writing exactly what is in your head at the time. The exact thoughts that come up in whatever shape or form, even if that thought is “I don’t have anything to write right now”, and how you are feeling. By doing this, you give your subconscious the opportunity to bring up and safely let go of, the toxic emotions that you are currently most likely to be squashing down.
This will take you about 10-15 mins and ideally, to ensure your day gets off to a good start, I recommend doing it as you first wake up in the morning. If that’s not possible another great time to do it is at the end of the day to help you get a good night’s sleep.
Step 2 – DAILY DANCING
This is one of my top favourite things to do to help lift your mood. All you have to do is stick on your favourite dance tune and let yourself go. Both the music and the words (if there are any), along with moving your body will instantly change how you are feeling physically and emotionally. You know this to be true already don’t you? I am pretty sure that almost everyone has experienced what it feels like to hear their favourite tune come on the radio, and even for those who don’t particularly love dancing in public, most of us have enjoyed dancing whilst nobody is watching haven’t we?
Ideally do this any time you are feeling down, if it’s not possible to dance – maybe you are on the train going to work for example, at least put on a great tune to listen to.
Just one song can make all the difference, so you are looking at about 3 minutes for a powerful surge of happiness. Hopefully, you can see though how easy it is going to be to get a lot more of these surges of joy packed into your day with this, without any huge effort from you.
Step 3 – DAILY DOWNTIME
Believe it or not this is the EASIEST one to do, because at the end of every day you go to bed, don’t you? So, make it your plan to stick on a relaxing mp3 to wind down to at the end of the day. To help you with this I am giving you a FREE GIFT of my Soothing Soul Break mp3.
There is an added bonus to this FREE GIFT in that the Soothing Soul Break mp3 also teaches you a really useful technique for managing your stress levels.
